Caring and Sharing

August Devotional for Busy Bee Congregations

Theme: Faith in Motion Scripture Focus: “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9

Reflection:

Like bees in a thriving hive, our days can be filled with constant movement — meetings, ministries, family, and community com-mitments. Yet, just as bees never lose sight of their purpose to serve the hive, we are called to keep our eyes on the One who gives our work meaning.

God doesn’t just see the big moments of our faith; He treasures the small, consistent acts of love — a kind word, a helping hand, a prayer whispered in the middle of a busy day. In August, as the summer heat lingers and schedules feel full, remember that your labor in the Lord is never in vain. Prayer:

Lord, in the busyness of life, help us to pause and remember why we serve. Give us strength to keep going, joy in the small tasks, and faith to trust that You are working through every effort. Amen. Challenge for the Month:

One-Minute Pause: Take 60 seconds each day to breathe deeply, thank God for His presence, and ask Him to guide your next step.

Small Acts, Big Impact: Choose one intentional act of kindness each week — a note, a call, or a prayer for some-one in need.

The Session did not have a Stated meeting in July. However, they did have a called meeting and approved having the lighting in the Sanctuary updated.

PASTOR SEARCH COMMITTEE

Please continue to keep the joint First Presbyterian/Faith Lutheran Church Pastor Search Committee in your thoughts and prayers. The committee is currently looking at two candidates. We have been granted the opportunity to hear one of them close by in the near fu-ture. We have not set up a time and place to hear the second one yet. As per the guidelines used by both denomina-tions, the committee is bound to keep identities and contact information confi-dential, as well as physical locations of any meetings. Candidates may be cur-rently employed by a church who does not know they are looking for other em-ployment. The committee appreciates your patience until such time as more information may be shared.

Habitat for Humanity Barbecue Chicken Fundraiser

On September 13, 2026 Bee County Habitat for Humanity will be holding a Barbecue Chicken Fundraiser at 1500 E. FM 351 (Faith Lutheran Church) from 11 -2 with a choice of either Drive Thru or Dine In service. The cost for the meals is $ 12.00 which includes a half chicken and beans and potato salad plus a sweet treat. In partnership with Faith Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian Church, this cooperative endeavor will help with our organizational costs of providing families with “hands up” help in home ownership. We want to also thank Thrivent Financial Services and a Gulf Coast Conference Grant which is helping with the cost of the materials for the meal. Tickets will be available from our board members in early August. This event is also going to be Faith Lutheran’s cele-bration of “God’s Work Our Hands” Sunday and a Gulf Coast Outreach event. Bee County Habitat is in a construction phase at the current time on our 4th home being built for a selected family, and the framers are due to begin on July 27. New homes are sold to the selected family with a “zero percent” interest loan. We have currently approved a repair (Brush with Kindness) project for a family needing a handicap ramp, and they ask only that the family selected repay us for materials. We will be doing both projects at the same time. Buy a ticket and help us as we help our community. Follow (beecountyhabitat) on Facebook. (If you have questions, please contact Pastor Don Taylor.)

WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE

COMING IN SEPTEMBER

Please mark your calendars for the second and fourth Wednesday evenings in the fall. The Fellowship Committee has started making plans for WNL, but we need your help! Please prayerfully consider signing up to cook. If that’s not your thing, there are many other ways you can help. We always need help with desserts, setup, and cleanup. You can even help by just showing up and, better yet, bring a friend. The more, the merrier!
