Lenten Luncheon
On Tuesday, March 18 our Presbyterian Women hosted the luncheon at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, part of the Margaret Moser Lenten Luncheon held every Tuesday during Lent each year. The menu included Carol Williams’ hot chicken salad and Shirley Calvert’s pineapple cupcakes. Decorations were provided by Mary Jane Stark. Other members of the Women’s Circle helped prepare and transport food, set up the tables and decorations, and clean up after the luncheon. The program was presented by our own Jon Fischer, and Sarah Jaure was the Master of Ceremonies. The luncheon series will continue each Tuesday through April 8.

Bee County Habitat for Humanity
Bee County Habitat for Humanity has been a part of our community since 2010 and has built 3 homes on N. Berry Street. We have now raised the funds necessary to build our next home for a Bee County family who wants to partner with us. That partnership includes up to 400 hours of “Sweat Equity” prior to and during the build. The selected family will show proof of a need for decent, affordable housing and be able to purchase their home through a zero-interest loan paid back to our organization, normally as a 20-year mortgage. The homes we build will normally be up to a three bedroom, 1 bath of approximately 1200 square feet with no garage or carport. Families must meet the Habitat for Humanity income guidelines ($24,000 to $40,000). A goal of our nonprofit is to give families a “Hand Up” in homeownership.
We are going to have a Home Ownership Workshop on Thursday, April 3 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, 106 E. Cleveland St., in Beeville. During these workshops we will explain the program in more detail, answer questions, and offer help in filling out applications. To find out more about this program and prequalify for the workshop call 361-239-3432 or stop by the Habitat office on Wednesday or Friday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:30 pm. That office is located at 908 N. Washington in the First Presbyterian Activities Building.
